The Game

Wow.

The Everett Silvertips set a franchise record with 11 goals in Wednesday’s 11-0 thrashing of the Vancouver Giants north of the border.

That’s 19 goals in the last two games for a team that was averaging 3.08 goals per game coming in. The Giants have been down for several seasons, but appear to have turned the corner this season. Vancouver had a six-game winning streak heading into the holiday break. Everett snapped that emphatically.

In many ways this reminded me of Everett’s 7-3 shellacking of Vancouver in the 2016-17 season-opener.

Here’s a couple of tweets showing Everett’s ninth and second goals:

Once again the Tips got ample secondary scoring. The second line of Connor Dewar-Riley Sutter-Bryce Kindopp combined for six goals and six assists. That’s big for a unit that has struggled with consistency at times this season. It’s also something that needs to remain consistent if Everett hopes to make a deep playoff run.

Sutter had four goals and an assist and now has 10 points in his last three games. Dewar has seven points in the last two. Kindopp has 11 points in his last half-dozen for a six-game point streak.

The Turning Point

There really wasn’t one. Everett dominated from the get-go.

Three Stars

1. Everett F Riley Sutter: The draft-eligible center had four goals and an assist.

2. Everett F Connor Dewar: “The Pitbull” scored twice and had two assists.

3. Everett G Dustin Wolf: The rookie goalie had 22 saves for his second career WHL shutout.
