HEADS UP

Mill Creek honors late city steward

The Mill Creek City Council issued a proclamation Tuesday to honor Mary Ann Heine, a longtime presence in the community who died July 5.

Heine served as the executive administrator of the Mill Creek Community Association for 20 years. The association oversees parks, trails and other common spaces for about half of Mill Creek’s neighborhoods. It maintains public and private common areas to preserve habitat and improve aesthetics.

City leaders credited Heine with improving the quality of life in the city through activities such as planning the installation of new playground equipment, park furniture and seasonal decorations along roadways.

Heine, 67, died of complications from cancer. She graduated from Mountlake Terrace High School and had resided most recently in Kenmore, according to her obituary.
