LYNNWOOD — A reportedly suicidal man set fire to a house Wednesday evening, destroying it.
There were no injuries.
A woman called 911 after 8 p.m. and said her adult son had called and told her he was suicidal, South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue said. He also reportedly told her he set fire to the abandoned house in the 19900 block of Locust Way, a neighborhood east of Lynnwood.
When firefighters arrived, the home was engulfed by flames. Firefighters had to wait until Snohomish County deputies ensured there were no threats from the man. The roof collapsed, making the building unsafe to enter and forcing firefighters to douse it from outside.
The man was found about a mile and a half away and taken into custody.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
