See the play “Silent Sky” Feb. 8-24, which dramatizes the life of American astronomer Henrietta Swan Leavitt. Her story captures the essence of being female and a scientist during a time when it was considered paradoxical to be both. Shows are 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $28 general and $25 juniors, seniors, military.

It’s a murder mystery with a number of surprises: The victim is not who it should be, the murderer’s identity changes overnight and the thrills are leavened with tongue-in-cheek humor. Shows are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $12-25.

Red Curtain: The Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville (in the Goodwill shopping center, behind the Everett Community College cosmetology school); 360-322-7402; redcurtainfoundation.org. “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” will be staged March 1-17. Five very different bridesmaids find themselves hiding together in a bedroom, hoping to escape the wedding reception of a bride that — they soon realize — none of them actually like. Shows are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $18 general and $15 students, seniors and military, $10 for children 12 and younger.

YOUTH THEATER

Ludus Performing Arts: The youth theater company presents the Tony Award-winning “Once on This Island” through Feb. 16 at the Snohomish County PUD Auditorium, 2320 California St., Everett. This Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale “The Little Mermaid” garnered eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including best musical. Tickets are $12-15. Jubal Flagg: The stand-up comedian, Marconi Award-winning radio host and television personality will take the stage at 8 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett.
