Suicide prevention talk

“Mukilteo Stands Behind Youth” is a free suicide prevention event scheduled for 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo. Includes showing of the documentary film “Suicide: The Ripple Effect,” a panel discussion, and snacks. Sponsored by the Mukilteo Youth Advisory Committee. All are welcome.

Mukilteo ribbon-cutting

The grand opening of Mukilteo Boys & Girls Club, 10600 47th Place W., is Friday. A ceremony is 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. An open-house reception is 3:45 to 5 p.m.

Prep for emergencies

The city of Mill Creek is hosting a workshop on how to develop family and neighborhood emergency plans from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 19 at Mill Creek City Hall South, Council Chambers, 15728 Main St. Other workshops are scheduled for May 21, Aug. 20 and Nov. 27.

Help Habitat

Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County has opportunities to apply for the board of directors and for spots on volunteer committees. Those committees include resource development, faith relations, veterans efforts, construction, family services and real estate.

Donate yarn supplies

The Snohomish County Clothing Textile Advisors are collecting fabric, needlework and yarn related supplies for their June 15 Annual Fabric Sale. Proceeds of the sale go to local scholarships, grants and sewing classes.

Board seeks student

The Edmonds Planning Board is looking for a student representative. The board makes recommendations to the City Council on plans, codes and issues related to community development including transportation, environment and housing. Student representatives must live in Edmonds and be in high school or college. The selected student will serve for the rest of the school year and attend board meetings at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month.

MEETINGS

The Edmonds School District board plans to meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Educational Services Center, 20420 68th Ave. West, Lynnwood. Future meetings are Feb. 26, March 5 and March 12.

The Lake Stevens Arts Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall. Discussion items include the Gisela Hinchcliffe Scholarship. More info: 425-334-1012.
