$136 distracted driving fine too low to change behavior

Thanks to the Lynnwood Police Department for its crackdown on cell phone use while driving.
Unfortunately this will only be effective for those that have to pay the $136 fine.
There is not a day goes by that I’m not holding my breath as a cell phone user comes at me.
In this age when people are willing to pay $75 or more to attend a sporting event and another $25 or so to park their car, $136 doesn’t mean much.
To make a difference the distracted driving fine needs to be raised to $1,000 and then we would start to save lives.
