ARLINGTON — Flames engulfed a barn Wednesday morning on the Stormwater Wetlands Park in Arlington, according to city officials.
Firefighters were dispatched around 7:30 a.m. to the scene near the intersection of highways 9 and 530. Smoke spewed from the barn and nearby buildings as crews from the Arlington Fire Department and other nearby agencies worked to extinguish the flames.
The fire was put out quickly, but the main barn had collapsed and was burnt black.
The Eagle Trail and off-leash dog park are closed until the buildings are brought down and debris is removed. Firefighters were still handling hot spots in the late morning.
The buildings had no historical significance, said Arlington spokesperson Kristin Banfield. The city’s Public Works department was already developing a bid package to remove them from the property.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
