Editor’s note: The Player of the Year and All-Area teams were chosen by The Herald sports staff based on coach recommendations, season statistics and first-hand observations.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Jersey Heiss, jr., F, Arlington
The junior forward scored a program-record 30 goals and added six assists while helping Arlington (10-9) to its first winning season since 2016 and a berth in the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament. Heiss was named first-team All-Wesco 3A/2A.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Michelle Crews, Cascade
Crews led the Bruins to a 5-10-2 record, matching the program’s win total over the past four seasons, and its first district-playoff berth and best overall record since 2012. Crews was named Wesco 4A Coach of the Year.
FIRST TEAM
Jersey Heiss, jr., F, Arlington
Katie Cheng, sr., F, Jackson
The senior forward scored 17 goals and collected 11 assists, giving her a foot in 28 of 48 goals scored by the Timberwolves this season. Cheng earned second-team All-Wesco 4A honors and has signed a letter of intent to play for the Cal Poly-Pomona women’s soccer team.
Ryann Reynolds, fr., F, Glacier Peak
The freshman forward notched 16 goals and nine assists while helping the Grizzlies to their first state-playoff berth since 2010. Reynolds earned first-team All-Wesco 4A honors.
Chloe Pattison, soph., F, Lake Stevens
The sophomore forward scored 15 goals and added eight assists, helping lead the Vikings to the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs. Pattison was named first-team All-Wesco 4A.
Chloe Seelhoff, soph., MF, Glacier Peak
The sophomore midfielder tallied 16 goals and a team-high 13 assists as she helped the Grizzlies to their first state-playoff berth since 2010. Seelhoff earned first-team All-Wesco 4A honors.
Jordan Bartlow, jr., MF, Arlington
The junior midfielder scored 10 goals and dished out a team-high 20 assists for the Eagles. Bartlow was named first-team All-Wesco 3A/2A.
Kirsten Crane, fr., MF, Marysville Getchell
The freshman midfielder led the Chargers with 13 goals and added three assists as a member of a Marysville Getchell team that made it to the Class 3A state playoffs. Crane was a first-team All Wesco 3A/2A selection.
Kaitlyn McCurdy, sr., D, Archbishop Murphy
The senior defender scored two goals and had two assists and helped anchor an Archbishop Murphy defense that allowed just 1.16 goals per game. McCurdy was named first team All-Wesco 3A/2A.
Kortney Crane, sr., D, Marysville Getchell
The senior defender tallied five goals and four assists and helped a defense that allowed 0.9 goals per game. Crane helped the Chargers to a Class 3A state-playoff berth and was named first-team All-Wesco 3A/2A.
Sydney Scott, sr., D, Edmonds-Woodway
The senior defender helped anchor a defense that allowed 0.68 goals per game. Scott was name first-team All-Wesco 3A/2A.
Sydney VanNess, sr., D, Shorecrest
The senior center back registered six goals and five assists for the Scots as a member of a defense that allowed one goal per game. VanNess was named second-team All-Wesco 3A/2A.
Grace Wales, sr., GK, Snohomish
The senior goalkeeper allowed just 16 goals and recorded six shutouts for a Panthers squad that surrendered just 0.81 goals per game and made the Class 3A state tournament. Wales was named first team All-Wesco 3A/2A and has signed with Western Washington University to continue her soccer career.
SECOND TEAM
Bree Nichols, jr., F, Snohomish
The junior forward notched 17 goals and seven assists to help lead Snohomish to the Class 3A state tournament. Nichols’ efforts earned her a first-team All-Wesco 3A/2A nod.
Kaitlyn Manalili, soph., F, Shorewood
The sophomore forward scored a team-high 14 goals and earned a first-team All Wesco 3A/2A selection.
Madison Long, sr, F, Archbishop Murphy
The senior forward scored nine goals and dished out eight assists for the Wildcats. She earned first-team All-Wesco 3A/2A honors.
Gracie VanAssche, sr., F, Snohomish
The senior forward tallied nine goals and eight assists for a Panthers squad that earned a spot in the Class 3A state tournament. VanAssche was named second-team All Wesco 3A/2A.
Morgan Manalili, soph., MF, Shorewood
The sophomore midfielder delivered eight goals and a team-high 11 assists for the Thunderbirds. Manalili was named first-team All-Wesco 3A/2A.
Olivia Gabelein, jr., MF, King’s
The junior midfielder tallied 15 goals and 11 assists and was named Offensive Player of the Year in the North Sound Conference. She also helped the Knights to a third-place finish at the Class 1A state tournament.
Ravyn Mummey, sr., MF, Snohomish
The senior delivered eight goals and nine assists while helping the Panthers to a Class 3A state-tournament berth. Mummey was named first-team All Wesco 3A/2A.
Grace McKenzie, jr., D, Cedarcrest
The junior defender anchored a defense that allowed 1.33 goals per game. McKenzie earned first-team All-Wesco 3A/2A honors and helped the Red Wolves to the first round of the Class 2A state playoffs.
Mackenzie Delgado, sr., D, Lake Stevens
The senior defender helped lead a defense that allowed 0.68 goals per game. Delgado was named first-team All-Wesco 4A and was a part of a Vikings squad that made the Class 4A state playoffs.
Kate Sprink, soph., D, Glacier Peak
The sophomore defender notched two goals and six assists and helped lead a defense that allowed 0.84 goals per game. Sprink earned first-team All-Wesco 4A honors and helped the Grizzlies to their fist state-playoff berth since 2010.
Lila McCleary, sr., D, South Whidbey
The senior fullback helped anchor a defense that recorded 12 shutouts and allowed 0.76 goals per game. McCleary was named Defensive Player of the Year in the North Sound Conference and helped South Whidbey to the first round of the Class 1A state tournament.
Tayla Peterson, soph., GK, Lake Stevens
The sophomore goalkeeper recorded 10 shutouts and allowed only one goal six times for a defense that allowed just 0.68 goals per game. Peterson earned first-team All-Wesco 4A honors and helped the Vikings to the first round of the Class 4A state tournament.
