ARLINGTON — The National Weather Service issued a flood warning through Friday evening for the Stillaguamish River in the Arlington area.
The rain came in heavier than initially expected, causing the river to swell to 13.1 feet by 3 p.m. Thursday, according to the agency. The Stillaguamish was expected to reach flood stage — 14 feet — as soon as 6 p.m.
As a result, minor flooding could happen through the night, with water spilling over banks in Silvana and along Pioneer Highway.
The river should crest around 4 a.m. Friday, at 15.1 feet, then fall below flood stage by late morning.
The weather service advises people not to drive cars, or trucks for that matter, through flooded areas.
