CAMANO ISLAND — A Camano Island man died in a single-vehicle crash on Camano Island Saturday afternoon, according to Washington State Patrol.

Isaiah Eschette, 20, reportedly was driving a Toyota Camry when his vehicle slammed into a telephone pole in the 1700 block of SE Camano Drive, snapping it and uprooting it from the ground.

Two 17-year-old girls also were wounded in the crash. One had life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The other was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital.

According to a news release from state patrol, the car was going too fast for Saturday’s rainy conditions.

The road was closed as troopers investigated the scene, and as Snohomish County Public Utilities District setup a new pole to restore power to the area.
