Vaccines should be prioritized for those 80 and older

Health Department tallies of covid-19 cases in our county and state tell us that about 60 percent of hospitalizations and 90 percent of deaths occur among those 60 years of age and older. Those 80 and over have accounted for over half of all deaths even though they represent but 4 percent of those who become ill. Just think of the impact vaccination might have to reduce these appalling numbers. A robust system of outreach is necessary for those over 80 and many of those over 60.
