Suspected drunken driver causes U.S. 2 crashes

MONROE — A suspected drunken driver allegedly crashed into several vehicles Saturday on U.S. 2.

A 37-year-old Everett man’s vehicle collided with two others at the intersection of Chain Lake Road and the highway, according to the Monroe Police Department.

People reported to police that some tried to block in a a Honda Civic, which responding officers saw drive away west on the highway and through a red light and crashing with two other vehicles.

Officers who took the man into custody reportedly smelled alcohol and found open alcohol containers in the vehicle.

None of the people involved in the collisions had serious injuries.

Traffic was backed up during the investigation for about two hours.
