Thanks to letter writers who share views repsectfully

Thank you, Herald letter-writers who offer viewpoints respectfully, while recognizing other ideas. We need more of you.
That we are a nation of many beliefs is a huge understatement, and many people passionate about theirs believe it to be the only correct way. To presume that people who don’t follow your path are amoral, however, is a grave injustice. It is also demeaning and false.
I have found that almost every religion embraces a form of “The Golden Rule,” and that even the most steadfast atheist possesses a moral compass. Good and bad, right and wrong, truth and lie standards do not require a deity or holy book, useful as those may be. They simply require a conscience and good sense, with which all but the most damaged are born.
I also respectfully disagree that science “cannot give us purpose, meaning, love or hope.” Indeed, I find it regularly presents examples of them all.
