Russians’ emails suspect because of threats of retribution

We’ve been hearing a lot lately about Ukrainians who have been sending messages to relatives in Russia about Vladimir Putin’s war against them. The relatives uniformly respond that there is no such war and they have absolute faith in President Putin.

Considering that any online transmissions are subject to monitoring by the secret police, the relatives in Russia would be foolish to answer in any other way. Judging by the demonstrations they see every day, I’ll bet they know more than they dare to let on.

According to the papers, Putin is preparing a list of traitors. Acknowledging that he might possibly be a bloody butcher is a sure way to get your name on that list.
