Shavers supports gun safety laws

Recently the Democratic majority in the Washington state legislature passed a law to prohibit open carry of firearms and other weapons at school board meetings, ballot counting centers, election offices, and the state Capitol grounds. Unfortunately, our Republican state Rep. Greg Gilday, R-Stanwood, opposed this measure.

The only reason anyone would openly display weapons at these locations is to intimidate voters, election officials, and school boards. That is not acceptable in a democracy.

I support Democratic candidate Clyde Shavers for the 10th Legislative District, Pos. 1, because he believes in commonsense gun regulations.
