Congress, 1st District: Headed in ‘right direction,’ DelBene?

Regarding the recent article where U.S. Rep. Suzan DelBene, chair of the congressional “New Democratic Coalition” is characterized as saying the country is “headed in the right direction,” I beg to differ (“Incumbents DelBene, Larsen say country is heading in right direction,” The Herald, Oct. 24

Here at home, many workers are living “check to check” and struggling with inflation’s effect on food, energy and housing as they struggle to keep a roof over their heads, food in the refrigerator, heat in the house and gas in the car. Many more are in a state of anxiety as they watch their retirement accounts drop, with losses exceeding 20 percent over the last year.

Internationally, the Russians have invaded Ukraine with little more response than wringing hands and some weaponry from NATO countries. An emboldened China is saber rattling over Taiwan, while North Korea shows off its missile capabilities.

Our economy is a dumpster fire, with the administration helicoptering trillions of inflationary dollars in, while the Fed raises interest rates to “fight inflation” with the resulting decreases in the values of stock, bonds and real estate, and let’s not forget the effect of the increased interest rates on housing affordability.

If you think this is “headed in the right direction”, support her with your vote. If not, it is time to explore alternatives. As a lifelong Democrat, I cannot bring myself to vote for her again. Can you?
