Paul Whelan, who is highly touted as an ex-Marine, was actually discharged by the U.S. military for attempted larceny, writing bad checks with stolen money, falsification of documents, making false statements and was given a bad conduct discharge and lost all military benefits. This is all public fact and was reported on all major news sources in 2008. It can be found online as well. Many Marines have come forward to say “We don’t claim him.”

He was arrested in Russia and charged with spying by their government. I have no idea if he was guilty or innocent but I would be inclined to believe that a man of low integrity stays a man of low integrity. Just my humble opinion.
