The Athlete of the Week nominees for May 8-14. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with the next poll and in next Tuesday’s edition of The Herald.

Brooke Asper | Marysville Pilchuck | Girls Tennis
Asper, a junior, earned a come-from-behind 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Meadowdale’s Katelynne Wyckoff on May 2 and finished the week 2-0 in her No. 1 singles matches for the Tomahawks. She won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week voting for May 1-7 by claiming 517 (25.7%) of 2,011 votes.

Dzanan Fikic | Shorewood | Boys Soccer
Fikic, a junior, scored a goal in the Stormrays’ 2-1 Class 3A District 1 semifinals win over Edmonds-Woodway on May 9 and added another in Shorewood’s 2-0 victory over Mount Vernon in the district title game on May 13.
Charlotte Giffin | Cedarcrest | Girls Golf
Giffin, a senior, shot a 5-over 77 to claim first place at the Wesco South championship meet at Snohomish Golf Course on May 9.
Faith Jordan | Glacier Peak | Softball
Jordan, a senior, pitched four scoreless innings and hit a home run in the Grizzlies’ 7-1 win over Kamiak on May 8. She also swatted two home runs as Glacier Peak clinched a bi-district tournament berth with a 13-3 victory over Lake Stevens on May 10.
Kellen Langford | Arlington | Boys Track and Field
Langford, a senior, ran winning times in the 800 meters and the 1,600 at the Wesco 3A North championships May 12. He ran the 800 in a personal-best 1 minute, 53.38 seconds and the 1,600 in 4:20.81. His time in the 800 ranks first in Class 3A, according to athletic.net.
Audrey Medina | Stanwood | Girls Tennis
Medina, a senior, won the Wesco 3A North singles title with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Marysville Pilchuck’s Brooke Asper on May 10. She didn’t drop a set during her three matches at the league tournament.
Jens Simonsen | Edmonds-Woodway | Baseball
Simonsen, a senior, pitched a no-hitter and delivered the walk-off hit as the Warriors clinched a state tournament berth with a 10-0 win over Ferndale in five innings during the Class 3A District 1 semifinals. Simonsen struck out seven and allowed one walk on the mound and had two hits and three RBI at the plate.
Baella Stich | Snohomish | Girls Track and Field
Stich, a sophomore, won the 200 meters, the 400 and the long jump at the Wesco 3A North championships May 12. She ran the 200 in a personal-best 25.77 seconds, the 400 59.20 seconds and posted a mark of 17 feet, 0.5 inches in the long jump.
Luke Wyrick | Kamiak | Boys Golf
Wyrick, a sophomore, shot a 1-over 73 to win the Wesco 4A championship meet at Harbour Pointe Golf Course on May 8. His efforts helped the Knights claim the team title.
