South Snohomish County lacks effective firework ban enforcement

Regarding the fireworks ban approved in parts of south Snohomish County (“On Fourth of July, where fireworks are banned in Snohomish County,” The Herald, July 3):
I recently went through treatment for a very aggressive cancer and my strength is still affected. Cleaning the massive amount of fireworks debris is extremely challenging. Hosing down the stains on my recently resealed driveways takes up my energy.
There is a lack of enforcement from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s South Precinct regarding the fireworks ban in southwest unincorporated Snohomish County. Illegal firework complaints are rarely responded to unless there is injury or major property destruction. We are unable to obtain a minor damages police report for insurance or a lawsuit. It feels like the ban is purposeless without enforcement.
