Herald Forum essay correct about boys’, girls’ interests

As a man proud to soon be entering his 30th year teaching kindergarten in a public school, I really appreciated Ron Friesen’s Herald Forum essay on gender roles and toxic masculinity (“Hang-ups about ‘right’ things for girls, boys more toxic,” The Herald, July 22). Being free to choose any career or avocation which makes one feel productive and brings one joy and fulfillment is critical to a good life.

Thank you, Ron, for continuing to be a voice for making ours a kinder community and world.
