FOOTBALL
Lakewood 29, Burlington-Edison 14
BURLINGTON — The Lakewood football team prevailed in a game that finished six weeks after its initial kickoff.
Tuesday’s Northwest Conference game between the visiting Cougars and Tigers was the resumption of a contest ruled as incomplete after the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association deemed an incorrect call by referees affected the final outcome of the game.
After restarting the contest in the opening minute of the third quarter with Lakewood up 14-7, Drew Talley caught a touchdown pass and Tyler Duncan ran for another score for the Cougars (3-6 overall, 2-5 Northwest 2A). Dylan Kirkpatrick’s punt down to the 2-yard line set up a safety for the Lakewood defense.
Burlington-Edison dropped to 0-9 overall and 0-7 in league.
