Nov. 4, 2008
Voters approve Sound Transit 2, green-lighting the Lynnwood Link Extension as part of an effort to create a 55-mile system of regional light rail.
2015
Sound Transit Board selects final route and station locations in Shoreline, Mountlake Terrace and Lynnwood.
Aug. 24, 2017
Sound Transit announces the Lynnwood Link will be delayed six months and cost about $500 million more than expected. The final price tag is about $3.1 billion.
2019
Sound Transit completes final design on the project.
Sept. 3, 2019
Ground is broken on the Lynnwood extension.
December 2020
Sound Transit announces construction of light rail is 25% done.
January 2024
Sound Transit begins testing trains on the extension.
July 27
Local emergency agencies conduct a Safety and Security Certification exercise, as required by the Federal Transit Administration.
Aug. 30
Service begins At Lynnwood City Center Station.
