Voters should say yes to all four state initiatives

Published 1:30 am Friday, September 27, 2024

The following Initiatives will be on the 2024 November ballot and were approved by more than 325,000 valid signatures. These voters thought the Democratic-led Legislature overstepped the wishes of the people.

I- 2066 prohibits the state and local governments from restricting natural gas.

I-2109 repeal the capital gains tax imposed on capital assets by individual with capital gains over $250,000.

I-2117 prohibits provisions of the 2021 Climate Commitment Act, a state law that provided a cap and investment program designed to reduce greenhouse gases,

I-2124 would allow all employees and self-employed individual to opt out of paying and receiving benefits under the WA Cares, the state’s long-term services and support trust health care program.

The original bills were introduced and passed by the Democratic-led Legislator and signed by our governor and are penalize all Washington citizens and low-income and working people.

Capital gains are already taxed federally. It penalizes investors for making money; the federal system allows a deduction for losses. The capital gain tax is just a money grab as is the carbon tax which does not reduce anything by itself but bloats the state budget.

Restricting natural gas when our electrical grid is now stretched to its maximum output is foolish. What’s our backup?

The long-term care act money is only $36,500, total life-time with restrictions.

If you want change from the last 12 dismal years, vote for Dave Reichert for governor. Change the status quo.
