Appreciate Everett Police’s welfare check on friend

I hang out at the Carl Gipson Center in Everett several days a week, where I have some very good friends. It still seems like a “senior” center.

Recently, one of our buddies hadn’t show up for a month. By the time you are in your mid-70s, anything can happen and you ain’t never gonna show up again; stroke, heart failure, bad fall; and our buddy has had his struggles with health.

Providence Hospital said he was not a patient and I could not get my friend’s address from the Gipson Center. But something told me that the cops would help. On the non-emergency line I explained things to an automated answering machine.

A while later a real cop called me and I described the situation to her. A few hours later I got a message on my phone that an officer had actually gone to my friend’s house and found out that his car was out of commission; nothing to worry about, but I appreciated the department’s service.

Fund the cops!
