Letter: Tim Eyman shouldn’t write ST3 pamphlet’s ‘con’ statement

I just read Tim Eyman’s screed against ST3 in Sunday’s Herald, full of blather and hypocrisy like Tim Eyman complaining about ST3 taking up tax revenue when most of what Tim Eyman has done is take away revenue options.

No, the issue is that Eyman is under investigation for campaign law violations and now contempt of court — not a soul that can handle writing a historical document. To me, for Sound Transit’s Board to give in to his e-mail campaign of people who boo Sound Transit reflexively was a crime against history.

The issue is Tim Eyman could be coauthoring a historical document for all time but will not furnish over basic business and financial records to see if he is conducting himself above elections law standards. To a history buff like me, ballot statements are the best snapshot of the debate around a ballot measure.

I’m of the view that frankly for the Snohomish County anti-ST3 ballot statement one of the same people who tried to stop the Prop. 1 campaign to save Community Transit future in 2015 should suit up and replace him. Oh, we know how that will end: same result, more integrity because my friend Jennifer Gregerson will write a 5-star statement for ST3.

One last thing that Tim Eyman in his rant forgot to mention: Skagitonians and tourists for instance will pay higher sales tax when visiting and working in the Sound Transit district when ST3 wins. I’m one of them, and I endorse ST3 for the improved frequency, grade separation and quality of transit ST3 will build with the geniuses in Sound Transit.
