EVERETT — One pedestrian died after a vehicle struck the individual Tuesday morning in Monroe.

Around 6:32 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision that closed westbound U.S. 2 at Kelsey Street, said Monroe Police Department spokesperson Paul Ryan.

Law enforcement detoured traffic to Blueberry Lane, according to a Monroe Police Department social media post.

At 7:45 a.m., all lanes were blocked on westbound U.S. 2 at Highway 522 near milepost 14 with traffic backed up over 4 miles after the Monroe collision, according to a Washington Department of Transportation social media post. The roadway reopened around 10 a.m.
