Teen dies days after e-bike crash near Mill Creek

EVERETT — A teen has died days after being hit by a car while riding an e-bike in the Mill Creek area.

Deputies responded before 4:30 p.m. Aug. 5 for reports of a crash at the intersection of 184th Street Southeast and 36th Avenue Southeast, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

A 14-year-old was found in the road with injuries described by deputies as severe. First responders from Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue treated the teen on scene before he was taken to Providence Regional Medical Everett.

The teen died at Harborview Medical Center on Sunday, the sheriff’s office said.

Collision investigation detectives believe a Toyota Camry was driving on 184th Street Southeast when the teen on an e-bike turned onto the street from 36th Avenue Southeast crashing into the car, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver of the Toyota stayed on scene. Detectives do not suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, but an investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office is now expected to identify the teen, as well as their cause and manner of death.
