Man dead after shooting at Port Angeles birthday party

PORT ANGELES — Clallam County sheriff’s officers say one man is dead and a second man is in custody after a shooting at a birthday party in a home east of Port Angeles, Washington.

Deputies called to a disturbance early Thursday found Matthew Baker, 25, of Port Angeles, dead on the living room floor.

Other partygoers say Baker and a second man had been alone in the living room as Baker was leaving after both attended the party. Witnesses in another room say they heard a single “pop” but heard no argument beforehand. The second man was found sitting in the living room with a semi-automatic handgun nearby.

The sheriff’s office says Nathan Olson, 26, of Sequim, has been arrested for investigation of homicide.
