EVERETT — Fluke Corp. and eMaint announced last week a new cloud-based platform to connect Fluke’s tools and sensors with eMaint’s maintenance-management software.
Fluke’s Accelix product aims to save manufacturers money and improve the reliability of equipment and machinery. Machines talking to machines is a goal of “smart factories.”
Too often, plants use offline equipment of varying types and ages that would be too costly to replace, said Brian Samelson, Fluke’s president of Digital Systems, in a written statement.
“This means that an overwhelming amount of maintenance activity happens in a black hole,” Samelson said. “Accelix solves this prevalent problem with a combination of familiar and trusted tools that connect seamlessly and are cost-effective to implement.”
Fluke and eMaint announced the new platform in Chicago. The companies are in the middle of a six-city road show to talk about how factory floors are evolving and to promote the companies coming together.
Fluke’s parent company, Fortive, purchased eMaint last year.
Everett-based Fluke produces hand-held test tools and portable sensors for use in manufacturing. eMaint, which has offices in Florida, New Jersey and Ireland, produces software that keeps track of work orders, analytics and asset management.
Accelix will help teams who maintain factories, said Paul de la Port, president of the Industrial Group at Fluke, in the statement.
“Maintenance managers are constantly looking for opportunities to improve productivity, lower costs and save time. This is increasingly important as teams have fewer resources to do the same job and they need better insights into resource allocation and asset health,” de la Port said.
Managers who can easily monitor the health of machinery do a better job of preventing serious problems while improving safety and productivity, he said.
“In the end, equipment life is extended and savings are quantified; we believe this value proposition is sought by maintenance professionals everywhere,” he said.
