EVERETT — Funko is pushing back the celebration of its new headquarters in Everett one day so that it will land on a Saturday.
The toy and collectibles maker is moving its headquarters to 2802 Wetmore Ave. in downtown Everett. The company said on its blog that the date change was due to popular demand. The new date will be Aug. 19.
“We know that a Saturday will be easier for more of you to attend!” according to the blog.
This will be the first opportunity for fans of the company — called Funatics — to see the location being built in the old Bon Marche building in downtown Everett.
Festivities include food trucks, giveaways and photo opportunities. Funko CEO Brian Mariotti will also be on hand for a signing.
Funko has a block of hotel rooms held at the Marriott Courtyard at 3003 Colby Ave. in Everett and urges fans to soon reserve a room.
Funko makes vinyl figures of pop culture characters such as Superman, Batman and Spider-Man the most popular of which are called Pop! The company also makes apparel, home decor and stuffed figures called Plushies.
The company has been located 1202 Shuksan Way in south Everett for three years, but announced last winter that it would move to downtown Everett to the former Trinity Lutheran College.
Contractors are remodeling the 90,000-square-foot space, which is expected to accommodate 300 employees in art, marketing, sales, finance, human resources and other departments. The company has already moved some employees into those offices.
The headquarters will also include a 6,000-square-foot flagship store for all things Funko.
Funko said people can keep an eye on its Twitter account @OriginalFunko for further updates.
