Edmonds Driftwood Players: Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds; www.edmondsdriftwoodplayers.org or 425-774-9600, option 3. Tickets for the 2016-17 season are on sale now. The thriller “Wait Until Dark” by Frederick Knott opens the season and runs from Sept. 16-Oct. 2. The play pits Susy, a recently blinded woman, against sinister thugs in a life-and-death game of cat and mouse. Directed by Ian Stewart.

Phoenix Theatre: The comedy theater is at 9673 Firdale Ave., Edmonds; 206-533-2000 or www.phoenixtheatreedmonds.org. Tickets for the Phoenix 2016-17 season also are available now. The plays include Ken Ludwig’s “Moon Over Buffalo,” opening Oct. 7 and running Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 30 under the direction of Eric Lewis. The cast includes Jay Jenkins, Tom Cook, Karen Hendrickson, Steve Heiret, Cindy Boggio, Tracy Kirtkpatrick, Jim Thompson and Melanie Calderwood.

Red Curtain: Red Curtain Foundation for the Arts, a nonprofit arts education organization, plans to open a new arts center in Marysville on Oct. 1, also the date of a fundraising auction and dinner at 6 p.m. at 9215 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville. Admission is $45. For more information, go to www.redcurtainfoundation.org. The 2016-17 season at the Red Curtain Community Arts Center features “Arsenic and Old Lace” opening on Oct. 21, as well as “The Fantasticks,” “You Can’t Take It With You,” “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians,” “A Streetcar Named Desire” and “Noises Off!” To learn about volunteering or to donate to the auction, call 360-322-7402.

Ballet

Olympic Ballet Theatre: The Edmonds company’s 36th season opens with its annual Beaux Arts Gala dinner and auction on Oct. 15 at the Lynnwood Convention Center. More at facebook.com/OlympicBalletTheatre. Olympic Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” will be performed Dec. 9-11 at the Everett Performing Arts Center and Dec. 15-18 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. The full-length romantic ballet “Giselle” is to be performed April 8 at the Everett Performing Arts Center and April 29 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. The Russian Grand Ballet: The touring company will perform Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Edmonds Center for the Arts. Tickets from $45 at www.edmondscenterforthearts.org.

Comedy

“Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus”: The off-Broadway comedy is a one-man fusion of theater and stand-up comedy based on the best selling book by John Gray. See it at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett. Call 425-258-6766 for ticket information.

Tim Behrens: The comedian offers his one-man, two-act show, “A Fine and Pleasant Misery,” based on the writings of Patrick F. McManus at 8 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett. Tickets are $25. Call 425-258-6766 for reservations.

Improv Comedy Night: 7 p.m. Sept. 17, Cafe Zippy, 2811 Wetmore Ave., Everett. Free.

Trent Arterberry: Comical storyteller, mime, musician and hilarious puppeteer, 2 p.m. Oct. 9, Marysville Opera House, 1225 Third St. Tickets are $5, but free for preschoolers sitting on laps. Kids love him, adults won’t want to miss him. Call 360-363-8400.

Everett Comedy Night: Emory’s on Silver Lake, 11830 19th Ave. SE, Everett, hosts a second-Sunday monthly comedy night with Cory Michaelis. Tickets are $10. The evening begins at 8:30 p.m. and features touring and local comedians. To reserve a table, call 425-337-7772. This fall, the dates are Oct. 9, Nov. 13 and Dec. 11.
