LAKE STEVENS — A man was killed Wednesday night after crashing into a light pole on Highway 204 in Lake Stevens, police said.
At 8:51 p.m., a Honda sedan driving fast going east went through the red light at 91st Avenue NE on Highway 204, according to the Lake Stevens Police Department. After going through the light, the car drove into a light pole.
The driver, a man, died at the scene. A passenger, also a man, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Lake Stevens police believe intoxication and speed contributed to the crash.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 204 were closed until about 12:30 a.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.
