Change up your drawers.

Monday is National Underwear Day.

No joke. It is celebrated annually on Aug. 5 as the day to buy a fresh pair or wear your favorite skivvies.

Internet retailer Freshpair launched the day in 2003 to celebrate underpants.

Underwear has come a long way since tighty-whities and high-waisted granny panties.

Men’s underwear is in every color of the rainbow. Grannies — and grandpas — wear thongs these days. Boxers and superhero briefs, once a boy thing, are in the girls section.

Hipsters, hi-cuts, boycuts or bikinis, undies are still an affordable wardrobe essential no matter how you shape it.

Options abound to splurge on pricey panties. A pair of Versace long stretch cotton trunks for guys is $75. A 3-pack of Lace Retro V-kinis is $117 on HankyPanky.com.

For that price, you can buy a year’s supply of Hanes for you and your friends.

Aug. 5 is also National Work Like a Dog Day. Better wear your most comfy undies.

Things to do on National Underwear Day

Drop your old drawers and buy some new ones.

Read a book about the history of underwear.

Tell an underwear joke. (How long does it take to put on a pair of underwear? A brief second.)

Watch a movie in your underwear.

Host an underwear party or parade down the street.

Go commando.
