SPOKANE — Spokane police now say a 9-year-old girl who reported that a man tried to lure her into a vehicle near her elementary school made up the story.
The Spokesman Review reported that police originally thought Tuesday’s report could be connected to a similar attempted luring last December near the same school, Hamblen Elementary.
The descriptions of the man involved were similar. Police say the December incident is still an active case.
Police spokeswoman Monique Cotton said even though this report turned out to be false, parents, teachers and students should always report suspicious behavior.
