EDMONDS — U.S. Coast Guard crews ended their search for a missing kayaker Monday in the water near Edmonds.
Between 9 and 10 a.m. Sunday, a man, 50, left to kayak in Puget Sound southwest of Edmonds, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. Around noon, a citizen found an adrift kayak with the man’s car keys and a life jacket. The Coast Guard began searching for the man soon after.
Crews, including a cutter, response boat and helicopter, scoured the area Sunday. Around 8:30 p.m., an aircrew responded from Astoria, Oregon. A boat from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife also assisted, Petty Officer Steve Strohmaier said.

Rescue crews aboard an 87-foot patrol boat searched the area overnight, according to the Coast Guard.
At 9 a.m. Monday, the Coast Guard suspended their search for the man, Strohmaier said. The Coast Guard searched for 20 hours, covering 97 square miles.
