Stanwood Eagle Scout honors brother

Jared Alfieri, of Boy Scout Troop 86, attained the rank of Eagle Scout in a ceremony Feb. 8. Jared is a senior at Stanwood High School. For his Eagle Scout project, Jared installed a community garden and planted a tree in memory of his brother, Levi, at the Stanwood Camano Community Resource Center in Stanwood.

Boeing employees step up for Clothes For Kids

The Employees Community Fund of Boeing has granted more than $39,000 to Lynnwood-based nonprofit Clothes For Kids to remodel the interior of its shop and offices. On Feb. 28, Clothes For Kids will complete its 2013-14 shopping season and begin to prepare for the remodel.

The remodel will include upgrading outdated lighting, repairing and painting the ceiling and walls, expanding furnace ventilation, and repairing and recovering flooring throughout.

“We are grateful to ECF for this opportunity to provide an internal facelift to our building, giving our ‘shoppers’ an even better experience,” says Mike Gibson, Clothes For Kids Board president.

FD1 hires 5 firefighters

Five firefighters recently joined the ranks of Snohomish County Fire District 1: firefighter and paramedic Paul Brough, previously with Marysville Fire District; firefighter and EMT Kevin Crye, previously with Camano Island Fire and Rescue; firefighter and EMT Les Fredrickson, previously with the Mukilteo Fire Department; firefighter and paramedic Garrett Owens, previously with Camano Island Fire and Rescue; and firefighter and paramedic Kyle Tate, previously with the Mukilteo Fire Department.

All five have completed a month-long orientation and are now working shifts in the 12 fire stations staffed by Fire District 1 in south Snohomish County, Brier, Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace.

Eagle Scout awarded for book project

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1040 awarded its 100th Eagle Scout award since 2006, at a National Eagle Court of Honor held at the Mormon Church in Mountlake Terrace, to Adam M. Oberstadt of Troop 67. Adam’s Eagle Scout project consisted of collecting and distributing books to low-income families.
