LAKE STEVENS — The boy who drowned at Davies Beach in Lake Stevens has been identified as Malachi Bell, 12, of Everett.
Bell was swimming at the park on an 89-degree evening around 5:40 p.m. Sunday, when he and two other kids were reported to be in distress.
A boy, 12, and a girl, 15, were pulled from the water, according to Snohomish County Regional Fire and Rescue.
Those two children were reported to be in critical condition this week at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
Bell drowned in about 10 feet of water, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Tuesday.
Rescue divers recovered his body.
Authorities originally reported the deceased child was 13.
Lake Stevens police were investigating what led up to the incident.
None of the three swimmers wore life jackets, firefighters said.
Family members have organized an online fundraiser for Bell’s family to help with funeral costs and other expenses.
Online fundraisers have also been set up to support family members of Bell’s two friends who were hospitalized, Zander Perry and Alexis Simpson.
