Help creek, salmon
Volunteers are needed to plant native trees and shrubs along Allen Creek in Marysville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The planting project will help create better fish habitat for Allen Creek, which will once again be accessible for salmon spawning next year when part of the levee is removed along the Snohomish River.
Planting trees will help provide shade to cool the water, prevent erosion, and provide food for the little bugs that juvenile salmon eat. The trees will also help prevent invasive species from growing like reed canary grass and Himalayan blackberry.
