Rock on! The Everett Rock &Gem Club’s annual Gem, Jewelry and Mineral Show runs June 2-3 at the Everett Soccer Arena, 2201 California St. Admission is free.
The gem and jewelry show is known for its high quality entertainment and exhibits. Thousands come each year to see specialists in wire wrapping, silversmithing and stone shaping. There will be a demonstration of “intarsia,” the art of cutting a variety of rocks and then joining the pieces to form one rock, similar to making a jigsaw puzzle.
Displays of fossils, exotic shells, beads and pearls, handmade jewelry, minerals and stone artwork also highlight the show.
Family events include a spin-the-wheel game for prizes, mineral bingo and a critter-making activity area for creative play.

Hear Hawking: World-renowned physicist, bestselling author and professor Stephen Hawking plans to take the stage in Seattle for one night only next month in a rare U.S. appearance.
Hawking is expected to join paleontologist Jack Horner and biologist Leroy Hood at 8 p.m. June 16 at the Paramount Theatre.
Interwoven with these presentations will be a performance of the “Rap Guide to Evolution.’”
This is part of the Science Luminaries Series, a month-long program consisting of five evenings that celebrate the exploration of science and technology.
It is part of the inaugural Seattle Science Festival organized by Pacific Science Center.
