There is always something new to learn about Pratt &Whitney engines.

The Future of Flight Aviation Center offers a Day of Learning sponsored by jet-engine maker Pratt &Whitney between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at 8415 Paine Field Blvd., Mukilteo.

Planned activities include educational seminars presented by the Museum of Flight and the Pacific Science Center and access to U.S. Air Force F-15 fighter jets and their pilots just home from Afghanistan.

Seminar schedule:

  • “The Flying Gizmo Show II,” for grades 3 to 8, one hour, 10 and 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m.

    This presentation uses a variety of flying toys, such as kites, parachutes, gliders and stomp rockets, to illustrate stages in the development of flight and concepts related to the science of flight.

  • “The Forces of Flight,” grades 1 to 6, one hour, 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Explore lift, drag, thrust and gravity with model planes.

    Take goats to judging ring

    Evergreen Dairy Goat and Northwest All Breed Dairy Goat associations offer a No Frills Buck Show with judging starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Stanwood Camano Fairgrounds, 6413 Pioneer Highway, Stanwood.

    Still opportunities for kids day camps

    For anyone still looking for a summer day camp for kids, a Junior Naturalists Camp is offered in Edmonds.

    Edmonds Parks &Recreation offers the camp for children ages 9 to 12 Aug. 6-10.
