LYNNWOOD — A lane closure along I-5 near Lynnwood is set to begin Monday.
Sound Transit contractors will close the right lane on southbound I-5 between the 44th Avenue W on-ramp and 220th Street SW from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday. The lane closure will end Wednesday morning.
The work is connected to the Lynnwood Link extension, slated to begin service Aug. 30. The project has spurred other recent lane and road closures, including a nighttime full closure in Shoreline.
Sound Transit recently began pre-revenue service of the $1.2 billion, 8½-mile extension to the light rail. This will help get train operators acclimated to the route. The last major hurdle for the route is a safety inspection, Sound Transit officials have said.
Riders will have a new option to pay. ORCA cards are now available in Google Wallet for Android phone users. It also works with Android smartwatches.
Riders who own plastic cards can convert them to digital cards at no extra cost, according to a joint ORCA and Sound Transit press release. For passengers who receive ORCA cards through their work or other organizations, the switch is up to them.
“While this innovation offers new convenience to customers who have purchased their own ORCA Card, it is important to know that businesses, schools, and organizations that issue ORCA cards will determine if they enable the cards that they provide to be added to Google Wallet,” the press release stated. “Customers can contact their issuing employer, school, or organization for more information.”
The new feature is supported by all ORCA-participating agencies: Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro, Kitsap Transit, Pierce Transit, Sound Transit and Washington State Ferries.
