Arlington: Join Neighborhood Corps

Volunteers willing to help create neighborhood networks to promote safety, awareness and civility are asked to attend a meeting at 7 tonight in the council chambers, 110 E. Third St.

Recreation department applies for city grant

The city plans to vie for its own Arlington Tourism and Economic Development Grants for 2011.

If awarded by the grant committee, the city recreation department would use $6,200 for outdoor events in the summer, including movies, plays and concerts; $48,000 for a restroom in Legion Park; and $5,500 for kiosks along the Centennial Trail in Arlington.

Camano Island: Community walk planned for Saturday

Friends of Camano Island Parks will host a community walk on the Cama Beach trails on Saturday morning.

Meet at 9:50 a.m. at Ivy Road and Dry Lake Road junction. Parking is on the Ivy Road cul-de-sac.

The 3.5-mile walk is to the Cranberry Lake trail, then to the beach area.

Organizers ask that dogs be kept at home.

Granite Falls: Museum book signing

The authors of “Everett & Monte Cristo Railway” are holding a book signing at the Granite Falls Historical Museum on Saturday.

Printed in large format, the book includes pictures, maps and stories about the early days of the area.

The book signing is set from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A soft-cover version of the book, signed by the authors, costs $39.95.

The Granite Falls Historical Museum is located at 109 E. Union St.

Marysville: Citizens for a Smell-Free Marysville to meet

A group that formed to find a solution for a foul odor that has been in the air for the past three summers in Marysville is scheduled to meet today.

The Citizens for a Smell-Free Marysville group plans to meet at 5 p.m. in the council chambers of Marysville City Hall.

Those in the group want to stop odors they believe may be coming from Cedar Grove Composting on Smith Island in Everett.

Rep. Hans Dunshee, D-Snohomish, and representatives from the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency and the Snohomish Health District are expected to attend the meeting.

City Hall is located at 1049 State Ave.
