EVERETT — A driver hit and killed a man crossing the street in Everett Friday evening, according to police.
Around 5:30 p.m., the man was crossing Everett Avenue near the intersection with Rainier Avenue when a westbound vehicle struck him, Everett police Lt. Robert Goetz said.
The man was dead at the scene. His identification and cause of death will be released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was believed to be a resident in the area.
No arrests are expected. The driver was cooperative with police, Goetz said. Detectives did not suspect intoxication or negligent driving played a role.
“It’s just a very unfortunate collision,” Goetz said. “This time of year we see too many of these because of the darkness and the rain.”
