TULALIP — A Lynnwood man died last week after stabbing someone at a hotel near Tulalip, police said Thursday.
The deceased man, identified as Robert LeMasters, 57, banged on a Stanwood man’s hotel room door on the evening of Feb. 18 in the 6300 block of 33rd Ave NE, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
When the Stanwood man, 62, opened the door, LeMasters reportedly stabbed him. The fight moved into the hallway, where the Stanwood man’s girlfriend worked with him to disarm LeMasters, according to the sheriff’s office. They held him on the ground until deputies arrived.
When deputies got to the hotel, they reported finding the Stanwood man with multiple knife wounds to his torso. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he was expected to survive, according to the sheriff’s office.
LeMasters, meanwhile, went unconscious in the hallway. Deputies and paramedics tried lifesaving measures, but he died at the scene.
Investigators don’t believe the two men knew each other. Detectives were investigating what led to the altercation. No arrests had been made as of this week.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office identified LeMasters on Thursday. His cause and manner of death were pending.
The investigation remained active.
