LYNNWOOD — A toddler was seriously injured after falling out of an open second-story window of a Lynnwood apartment Friday afternoon.
Around 4:45 p.m., a screen on an open window at the apartment in 20900 block of 44th Avenue West apparently gave way under the toddler’s weight, according to South County Fire.
The boy fell about 15 feet onto a garden bed covered with bark, according to fire officials. Paramedics took him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His injuries were serious but did not appear to be life-threatening.
South County Fire provides free window locks to prevent windows from opening more than four inches. The department also says unsupervised children are at the greatest risk of injury, and recommends moving chairs, cribs and other furniture away from windows.
