I am writing to you today to raise awareness about the brutal slaughter of America’s wild horses. I am encouraging Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell to join with their colleagues and cosponsor S. 2006, the Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act sponsored by Sens. Menendez (D-NJ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) currently pending before the Senate.
The SAFE Act enjoys wide bipartisan backing in Congress and overwhelming public support from horse owners and the general public. I am encouraging our senators to cosponsor this legislation and urge leadership to give it a hearing and floor vote immediately. Congress has been considering this issue for 18 years and enough is enough, we must end horse slaughter and pass this bill immediately.
