Don’t joke about RIP ‘Rip Haywire’

As a hard-copy subscriber to The Herald, it wasn’t the notice of crumbling concrete and exposed rebar on the U.S. 2 trestle that I found shocking on Monday. No indeed. Instead, The Buzz announced that comic strip “Rip Haywire” shouldn’t get to comfortable after “Cul de Sac” has just replaced the easily tossed “9 Chickweed Lane.”
As both a Herald and Seattle Times subscriber, one of the best things is finding the uniqueness on the comic pages. And for that The Herald’s grand virtuoso is “Rip Haywire.” Readers take notice! We must not even consider that the Puget Sound area could endure such a hardship. The chin of Rip Haywire alone as a Herald performer could never be replaced. Better perhaps to take a slice of news print from The Buzz for a week for daring to propose such a disastrous event!
