In regard to the proposed Kmart site housing: Why? (“Former Kmart property in Everett sells for $18 million,” The Herald, June 10.) This ridiculous done-deal plan of more saturated housing is not for the well-being of the citizens of Everett.
Why are the people that the run the city doing this. There is no beauty here any more. The little bits and pieces located in the city are so crowded there’s no room for more people. Saturated housing buildings are money makers for developers. It sounds pretty on paper. Living in it is something else.
With Boeing losing employees and the economy tanking, where are these jobs located for people who are going to be using the planned Link extension of Sound Transit light rail at Highway 526 and Evergreen Way, meaning a very large bus stop. The way it’s describing the area around this amazing new bus stop makes it sounds like we’ve been living in Shangri-La and didn’t know it.
Dan Eernissee, economic development director for the City of Everett, thinks this is a super idea and will bring in more saturated housing opportunities to our city. Why? We have enough crime, enough people, enough traffic, enough saturated housing. With more to come as planned. We are being swallowed up by over crowding.
