Groups’ scholarship gifts are changing futures for students

Published 1:30 am Thursday, June 6, 2019

I would like to recognize all of the service groups and foundations in our communities for their continued support and generosity in the form of scholarships. They are changing the futures of our students upon graduation!

I am the principal of AIM High School in the Snohomish School District where nine students received scholarships ranging from $500 to $4,000 per scholarship! At a time when many service groups are facing closure due to decreasing memberships, we need to rethink the value of this type of volunteerism for the good of the community. Our school has benefitted for many years from this steadfast work.

I want to personally thank the Snohomish Tillicum Kiwanis for its support of AIM High School over many years. They are one of the groups that is now closing. They not only provided three seniors each year with a scholarship ($1,000 to $1,500 per student), but they also afforded us a Senior Dinner to honor the 30 to 45 graduates each June. I will miss our relationship with this amazing group of people, who like other service groups, work tirelessly to raise funds to help our students realize their dreams!
