Am I the only one that thinks this is crazy?
I am reading about Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin’s state of the city speech (“Editorial: State of city adddress makes case for Everett’s future,” The Herald, March 23). She outlines many problems the city is facing, including a $12.9 million budget deficit. And then she talks about building a new baseball stadium for $40 to $80 million! That does not seem like it should be the city’s highest use of funds, given all the other needs.
The city of Everett should concentrate on public safety, its “financial deficit, a housing crisis and drug crisis”; not a new baseball stadium.

Editor’s note: The City of Everett’s investment in a public-private partnership to build a new Everett AquaSox stadium has not been announced, but the city will not finance the project on its own.
